Przedmiotem wynalazku jest sposób wytwarzania aktywnych powlok tlenkowych metoda termi¬ czna na elektrodach metalowych, zwlaszcza tytanowych, przydatnych dla procesów elektrolizy roztworów halogenków metali alkalicznych metoda przeponowa i rteciowa Jak tez kwasu solnego, a takze w procesach elektrolitycznego wytwarzania podchlorynów, chloranów, bromianów, nad¬ chloranów, nadsiarczanów, nadboranów, do produkcji wodoru i blenu oraz elektrochemicznego utleniania substancji organicznych. Ponadto aktywowane elektrody tytanowe moga byó stosowa¬ ne w ogniwach paliwowych, w procesach hydrornetalurgicznyeh i galwanicznych przebiegajacych z nierozpuszczalna anoda, w elektrochemicznych metodach odsalania oraz oczyszczania wody i scieków, a takze w systemach przeciwkorozyjnej ochrony katodowej. Znane elektrody metalowe o stabilnych wymiarach, stosowane w procesach elektrolizy w miejscu elektrod weglowych, wy¬ konane sa z metalu chemoodpornego - najczesciej tytanu - z nalozona nan cienka powloka me¬ talu z grupy platynowców. Elektrody te charakteryzuja sie jednak stosunkowo szybkim zuzyciu wskutek elektrochemicznego rozpuszczenia powloki i pasywacji korpusu tytanowego. Jest to niewatpliwie wynikiem zmian w skladzie chemicznym i budowie aktywnej powloki tlenkowej, która uzyskuje strukture jednofazowa, zawierajaca jedynie roztwór staly Ib^-TiOp bez sladu domieszek rutenu metalicznego i ana¬ tazu, a ponadto charakteryzuje sie znacznie mniejsza porowatoscia i bardziej zwarta budowa.Przyklad I. Naklad 100 egz.Cena 100 zl PLThe subject of the invention is a method of producing active oxide coatings by thermal method on metal electrodes, especially titanium electrodes, useful for the electrolysis of alkali metal halide solutions by the diaphragm and mercury method, as well as by hydrochloric acid, and also in the electrolytic production of hypochlorites, chlorates, bromates, chlorates, persulphates, perborates, for the production of hydrogen and blen and the electrochemical oxidation of organic substances. In addition, activated titanium electrodes can be used in fuel cells, in hydro-metallurgical and galvanic processes involving a non-dissolving anode, in electrochemical methods of desalination and purification of water and sewage, as well as in cathodic corrosion protection systems. Known, dimensionally stable metal electrodes, used in electrolysis processes in place of carbon electrodes, are made of a chemically resistant metal - most often titanium - with a thin platinum metal coating overlaid on it. However, these electrodes are characterized by relatively quick wear due to the electrochemical dissolution of the coating and the passivation of the titanium body. Therefore, metal electrodes coated with semiconductor oxide coatings containing oxides of noble metals, especially ruthenium (Polish Patent No. 78,772, Polish Patent No. 80,632), are more advantageous in terms of durability. Even more preferred are electrodes coated with two-component coatings consisting of ruthenium dioxide and a ruble variety of titanium dioxide in appropriate proportions, provided that they constitute a solid solution. Active oxide coatings produced from a solution consisting of ruthenium trichloride and titanium trichloride, however, contain certain amounts of metallic ruthenium and anatase, possibly due to an oxidation and reduction reaction between the cations in the solution. The presence of these phases in the coating reduces its durability: in the case of metallic ruthenium, this is due to its lower electrochemical resistance than ruthenium dioxide, while anatase is non-conductive and is an electrochemically inactive phase.2 154 805 The method according to the invention concerns the production of two-component active coatings containing ruthenium dioxide and titanium dioxide, and consists in adding to the coating solution an addition of organic oxidants which are well-soluble in this solution, which, after reacting, do not leave any impurities and at the same time effectively counteract the formation of metallic ruthenium and anatase in the active film. As oxidizing substances, organic hypochlorites in the amount of 60-1200 parts by weight are used. and especially butyl hypochlorite in an amount of 300 parts by weight. for every 1000 parts of weight ruthenium and titanium salts in total, peroxides or peroxy acids in an amount from 60-1200 parts by weight *, especially hydroxide with cyclohexanes! in the amount of 320 parts by weight, or cumene in the amount of 420 parts by weight. or 380 parts by weight peroxybenzoic acid. for every 1000 parts of weight ruthenium and titanium salts in total. All of the above-mentioned substances can also be added to the solution which, in addition to the ruthenium and titanium salts, also contains salts of silicon, tin, iron, tantalum or other such admixtures. In this way, the solution obtained is applied to the cleaned and etched electrode body made of chemically resistant metal such as titanium, tantalum, zirconium, niobium, tungsten, hafnium or their alloys using the immersion method, spraying or brushing, and then dried at 573 K in air for 10 minutes. Depending on the desired thickness of the active layer (3-10 m), this operation is repeated 4-12 times. After applying the last layer of the solution, the electrode is subjected to an annealing process at a temperature of 750-773 K in the air atmosphere during the period from 1-3 hours. During this heating, the thermal decomposition of ruthenium and titanium salts deposited on the electrode surfaces takes place, with the formation of the corresponding oxides of these metals. The electrodes obtained by the method according to the invention are characterized by a much longer service life than the electrodes produced without the use of an oxidant. This is undoubtedly the result of changes in the chemical composition and structure of the active oxide coating, which obtains a single-phase structure containing only the Ib-ThiOp solid solution with no trace of metallic ruthenium and anatase admixtures, and is also characterized by much lower porosity and a more compact structure. I. The lithium electrode body is degreased in an alkaline phosphate solution and then etched in hydrochloric acid at a concentration of about 20% by weight and a temperature of 373 K for 1 hour.
