Istota wzoru jest jego nowa postac, przejawiajaca sie w ksztalcie, ukladzie linii i wlasciwosciach powierzchni elementów obrusu. Korzystna szerokosc pasa obrebu wynosi 6 do 7 % szerokosci calego obrusu. W pierwszej odmianie wzoru obrus ma ksztalt kwadratu, a w drugiej - prostokata.Najkorzystniejszy efekt estetyczny uzyskuje sie dzieki temu, ze plachta i obrab obrusu sa zestawionie z materialów majacych powierzchnie kontrastujace ze soba polyskiem lub faktura.
