Abstract

A spherical mid-air wind turbine 10 comprising: a spherical body 11 rotatable along a horizontal axis 16; a plurality of spaced apart vanes 12 attached to the body 11 such that when upon a wind force perpendicular to the axis 16 hit the vanes 12, cause the body 11 to rotate about an axis to generate a Magnus effect lifting force; and one or more tethers 14 are attached to anchor the body toward the ground 15.
