A sludge dewatering filter comprising: a filter structure being made such that it is capable of resting on the sludge bed of a waste water treatment system, said filter structure having porous planar surface being held in an elevated position by peripheral walling integrally connected thereof, said porous planar surface being liquid-permeable such that water from the wet sludge being placed thereon is capable of seepage thereby converting said sludge into cake form, and interlocking means provided on said peripheral walling and disposed in a manner wherein said filter structure is capable of attachment to similar filter structures to form a filter assembly with broader porous planar surface on the sludge bed.
