Abstract
This method for estimating the degree of deterioration of engine oil in a diesel engine 10 includes: a step of creating an engine oil deterioration map which defines, in association with a diesel engine load, an engine oil degree of deterioration which takes into account the effects of the injection end timing of main injection in the diesel engine, and the effects of the amount of smoke in exhaust gas from the diesel engine; a step of creating a load frequency map defining a load frequency of the diesel engine; and a step of estimating the engine oil degree of deterioration taking into account the injection end timing of main injection, the amount of smoke in the exhaust gas, and the load, on the basis of the engine oil deterioration map and the load frequency map.
