Abstract

A latch mechanism is mounted to an upper bar via a bracket in a front portion of a vehicle front space. The bracket includes a protrusion part which is tilted to a vehicle front side and protrudes upward above the upper bar, and the latch mechanism is mounted in the protrusion part. When an impact load is input from above to the vicinity of a front end portion of a hood by a headform impactor, the impact load is applied from the hood to the protrusion part or to the protrusion part through an upper end of the latch mechanism. Since the protrusion part is tilted to the vehicle front side, the protrusion part is easily deformed downward prior to other portions of the bracket. Therefore, the impact is absorbed efficiently, which is advantageous to the reduction of the damage value.
