Abstract

An electronic control unit (ECU) mounting structure for a motorcycle having an ECU and seat rails passing both sides of an under-seat utility box is characterized in that: the utility box includes a recess portion inward of the seat rails, and the ECU resides inward of the seat rails, between a given seat rail and the recess portion of the utility box. The ECU inwardly faces the utility box recess portion. The seat rail overlaps portions of the ECU from a side view. Other electric parts are installable outside of the seat rail, at positions overlapping portions of the ECU from a side view. Spatial gaps exist between the ECU and a) the seat rail, and b) the utility box recess portion. The ECU avoids overlapping the utility box from a front view. The ECU mounting structure eliminates the need for special ECU protection covers, and keeps the motorcycle body shape slim.
