In a previous study it was already proven that the ampalaya, malunggay and honey extract have an antimicrobial effect on Streptococci in general but there are still no researches proving whether or not these materials can effectively reduce the number of specific strain of Streptococci. To further the study the inventors decided to test the antimicrobial effect of the extract on a specific strain of Streptococci which is Streptococcus mutans. This study determined the extent of effect of the extracts in the elimination of Streptococcus mutans as one of the causes of more dental caries.
