Abstract

Disclosed is a Vertical Axis Water Current Paddle Mechanism that is made to float on the surface of bodies of water, such as rivers, bays, estuaries or the open oceans, which utilizes multiples of paddles arranged in circular fashion around a center shaft, intended to extract kinetic energy from surface water current found in rivers, or the sea and converting them to mechanical rotary movement of a vertically aligned shaft. This slow speed high torque rotary action of the shaft is then made as the prime mover to turn a generating dynamo to produce renewable electricity. The Vertical Axis Water Current Paddle Mechanism described herein floats on the surface of the water by way of steel buoys and fastens to stable underwater sea bed anchors using steel ropes and hooks. Harvested power is then transmitted to the grid.
