BY REGULARLY ADDING NEW DATA AND REMOVING OLD DATA FROM THE BITACORA, THE RESULTING FLUCTUATING WINDOW WILL REFLECT RECENT CHANGES IN PEAK USE [MAXIMUM]. REGULARLY (V.GR., EVERYDAY) SELECTING THE AVERAGE PEAK USE SEGMENT [MAXIMUM] DETECTS SUCH CHANGES QUICKLY, WITH THE RESULT THAT THE PROCESS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION DYNAMICALLY REACTS AGAINST AND DETERMINES THE CHANGES IN THE SEGMENT PEAK [MAXIMUM] OF THE COMPONENTS OF A PARTICULAR SWITCH. ADDITIONAL METHODS FOR USE BY THE SYSTEM ARE DISCLOSED FOR DYNAMICALLY FILTERING OPENING DATA WITH HIGHER ACCURACY AND TO DETERMINE THE LIMITS OF USE OF THE AVERAGE TRAFFIC OF THE COMPONENTS OF A PARTICULAR SWITCH. THE METHODS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION ALLOW THE MOST EFFECTIVE USE OF THE EXPENSIVE NETWORK SWITCHING RESOURCES BY PROVIDING A MORE ACCURATE DETERMINATION AND A MORE DYNAMIC TRACKING OF THE USE OF THE SWITCH AT THE COMPONENT LEVEL.
