Abstract

Disclosed is a method of producing goat milk having naturally present 2'-fucosyllactose (2'-FL). The method comprises determining whether a goat is producing 2'-FL, selecting a plurality of goats that produce 2'-FL; and milking the selected goats. Also disclosed is determining whether the goat producing 2'- FL possesses at least one copy of a favourable allele at a SNP and/or has a deletion in the region of the FUT2 gene.

Claims (6)

1. A method of producing goat milk having naturally present 2’ fucosyllactose (2’-FL), comprising: 5 a) determining whether a goat is producing 2’-FL; b) ing a plurality of goats that produce 2’-FL; and c) milking the selected goats separately from goats that do not have
2’-FL naturally t in the milk. 10 2. The method of claim 1 further comprising collecting the milk of the selected goats as bulk milk for further processing, optionally the bulk milk being at least 150L.
3. The method of claim 2 wherein the bulk milk is at least 1000L, at least 15 5000L, or at least 10,000L.
4. The method of claim 2 or 3 wherein the goat milk is mature milk.
5. The method of claim 2 or 3 wherein the goat milk is rum.
6. The method of claim 2 or 3 wherein the goat milk is a combination of mature milk and colostrum. 20052055_1 (GHMatters) P121990.NZ W0 23036 €Z_L# 8L_L# €L_Z# VL_L# €L_L# ZL_L# 6L_Z# 9L_L# ez‘z# SZ_L# VL_Z# ‘ 92_L# LL_Z# ~ os‘z# ‘ 9_L# oz‘z# 82_L# 2'-FL 9‘z# LZ_L# 1 LZ_Z# Goats gz‘z# €_L#
