TITLE: HEAVY-DUTY HOUSEHOLD PAPER SHREDDER
CAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a paper shredder, and more particularly to a paper
shredder that includes a paper pressing board for pressing down and compacting
shredded paper chips.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
A paper shredder is an office machine that destroys, through shredding, paper
documents that are confidential or private and is generally used to cut paper sheets into
small chips or strips. The paper er is generally made up of a ing head
and a paper barrel. The ing head generally ses a rotating electric
machine and sharp blades that cut paper sheets into paper chips and strips. The paper
barrel receives and holds the shredded paper chips and strips .
A known paper shredder is disclosed in Taiwan Patent Publication No. 333859,
which provides a shock-absorbing and sound-reducing structure of a shredding device
of a paper shredder and is generally made up of a shredding device (the shredding
head) and a paper barrel. The patent is structured such that the shredding device
shreds paper sheets into paper chips and strips and the paper barrel ts and holds
the shredded paper chips and strips. However, when the paper barrel gets full of
paper chips, there might be an issue of paper jamming, so that operation can be
resumed only after the paper barrel has been cleared. During the process of ng
the paper barrel, the shredded paper chips and strips may fly away randomly, leading
to a difficulty for cleaning.
Y OF THE INVENTION
To overcome the above m, the present ion provides a heavy-duty
household paper shredder, which ses: a shredding head, a paper barrel, a paper
pressing board, and a itting assembly. The shredding head is provided with an
opening, a paper feeding hole, a sensor, and a driver. The driver is in electrical
connection with the sensor. The paper barrel is formed with a receiving space. The
receiving space is in communication with the opening of the shredding head. The
paper pressing board is arranged in the receiving space of the paper barrel. The paper
pressing board is formed with at least one gap. The transmitting assembly is
connected between the driver and the paper pressing board. The transmitting
assembly is drivable by the driver to drive the paper pressing board to move in a
predetermined direction.
Preferably, the itting assembly comprises two extension rods, and the two
extension rods are respectively arranged at two sides of the paper pressing board.
Preferably, the paper pressing board is formed with a plurality of gaps that are
parallel arranged.
Preferably, the transmitting ly comprises a fixing piece and an extension
rod body.
Preferably, the sensor a non-contact thickness sensor, and the non-contact
thickness sensor comprises one of an infrared thickness sensor, an ultrasonic thickness
, and a laser thickness sensor.
To use the present invention, the fixing pieces of the transmitting assembly mount
the paper pressing board in the receiving space of the paper barrel and the paper
pressing board is movable in the ermined direction (namely a direction toward
a bottom of the paper barrel). A used paper sheet is fed and introduced through paper
feeding hole of the shredding head, and is cut and ed by the shredding head into
small paper chips and strips. The paper chips and strips pass through the gap of the
paper pressing board to be ed in the receiving space of the paper barrel. The
sensor is operable to detect variation of thickness of paper chip pile inside the paper
barrel, such that when a ermined thickness is reached, the driver drives the
transmitting assembly to cause a movement of the extension rods of the itting
assembly to drive the paper pressing board to move in the predetermined direction to
press down the paper chips and strips received in the paper barrel into a compact block
in order to reduce the amount of space that the paper chips and strips occupies inside
the paper barrel. Further, the paper chips and strips that are set in the block form are
relatively easy to clean by directly removing the block of the paper chips and strips

ED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the present invention provides a heavy-duty
household paper shredder 1, which comprises: a shredding head 11, a paper barrel 12,
a paper pressing board 13, and a transmitting assembly 14.
The shredding head 11 is ed with an opening 111, a paper feeding hole 112,
a sensor 113, and a driver 114. The driver 114 is in electrical connection with the
sensor 113. Specifically, the sensor 113 is a non-contact thickness sensor, which
functions to detect variation of paper sheet thickness. The ntact thickness
sensor may include an infrared thickness sensor, an ultrasonic thickness sensor, a laser
thickness sensor. The driver 114 ons to drive the transmitting assembly 14.
The ing head 11 is also provided with a switch 115. The switch 115 is operable
to activate and de-activate the driver 114. In addition, the shredding head 11 further
includes a g blade, which cuts and shreds a paper sheet that is fed into the
shredder through the paper feeding hole 112 into small paper chips and strips. This
is known technology and is not a novel part of this invention, so that further description
will be omitted herein. The sensor 113 may be structured to provide notification to a
user through giving off sounds or by being set to a message to a phone of the user
through wireless omagnetic waves.
The paper barrel 12 is formed with a receiving space 121. The shredding head
11 is arranged on the paper barrel 12, such that the receiving space 121 of the paper
barrel 12 is connected to and in communication with the opening 111 of the shredding
head 11.
The paper pressing board 13 is arranged in the receiving space 121 of the paper
barrel 12. The paper pressing board 13 is formed with at least one gap or slit.
Specifically, the paper ng board 13 is formed with a plurality of gaps that are
arranged parallel to each other. The gap is preferably set at a position to correspond
to the cutting blades of the shredding head 11, so that the paper chips cut and ed
by the shredding head 11 may readily pass through the gap.
The transmitting ly 14 is connected between the driver 114 and the paper
ng board 13. The transmitting assembly 14 is driven by the driver 114 to move
the paper pressing board 13 in a predetermined direction A (see . Specifically,
the transmitting assembly 14 comprises two extension rods. Each of the extension
rods may be or may include an extendible/contractable bar. The extension rods may
comprise a fixing member 141 and an extension rod body 142. The two extension
rods are respectively disposed at two sides of the paper pressing board 13. The fixing
members 141 of the extension rods mount the paper pressing board 13 in the receiving
space 121 of the paper barrel 12.
Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, to use the present invention, the fixing pieces 141 of
the transmitting assembly 14 mount the paper pressing board 13 in the receiving space
121 of the paper barrel 12 and the paper ng board 13 is movable in the
predetermined direction A (namely a direction toward a bottom of the paper barrel 12).
A used paper sheet is fed and introduced h paper feeding hole 112 of the
shredding head 11, and is cut and shredded by the shredding head 11 into small paper
chips and strips. The paper chips and strips pass through the gap of the paper pressing
board 13 to be received in the receiving space 121 of the paper barrel 12. The sensor
113 is operable to detect ion of thickness of paper chip pile inside the paper barrel
12, such that when a predetermined thickness is reached, the driver 114 drives the
transmitting assembly 14 to cause a movement of the extension rods of the transmitting
assembly 14 to drive the paper pressing board 13 to move in the predetermined
direction to press down the paper chips and strips received in the paper barrel 12 into
a compact block in order to reduce the amount of space that the paper chips and strips
occupies inside the paper barrel 12. r, the paper chips and strips that are set in
the block form are relatively easy to clean by directly removing the block of the paper
chips and strips out. Further, the sensor 113 can be set in tion or
communication with the phone of the user so as to notify the user to proceed with
cleaning and emptying of the paper barrel 12 to thereby avoid paper jamming,
achieving an effect of easy use and operation.
Unless the context requires otherwise the word ‘comprise’, and variations including
‘comprises’ and ‘comprising’ are intended to be inclusive rather than exclusive. In
other words, comprise (and variations) is to be taken to mean include and not ‘consists
only of’ unless the context specifically precludes this interpretation.
