Abstract
The present invention relates to wireless communications and particularly to methods and apparatus for requesting, transmitting and using system information (SI) in wireless communication. The invention aims to overcome efficiency problems observed in prior art SIB transmission methods. Thus, the present invention provides a base station apparatus comprising: transmitting circuitry configured to transmit, to a user equipment (UE), minimum system information (SI), the minimum SI being required for initial access, the minimum SI comprising: plural indications, each of the plural indications indicating whether or not a corresponding system information block (SIB) of other SI is provided on-demand, the other SI comprising information not provided by the minimum SI, and scheduling information indicating a transmission schedule(s) of one or more SIBs of the other SI, and; receiving circuitry configured to receive a request for transmission of a corresponding SIB of the other SI, in a case where one of the plural indications indicates that the corresponding SIB of the other SI is provided on-demand.
Claims (11)
1. A base station apparatus sing: transmitting circuitry configured to transmit, to a user equipment (UE), minimum system information (SI), the m SI being required for initial access, the minimum SI comprising: plural indications, each of the plural indications indicating r or not a corresponding system ation block (SIB) of other SI is ed and, the other SI comprising information not provided by the minimum SI, and scheduling information indicating a transmission schedule(s) of one or more SIBs of the other SI, and; receiving circuitry configured to receive a request for transmission of a corresponding SIB of the other SI, in a case where one of the plural indications indicates that the ponding SIB of the other SI is provided and.
2. The base station apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transmitting circuitry is configured to transmit the corresponding SIB of the other SI based on the scheduling information.

A user equipment (UE) comprising: receiving circuitry configured to e, from a base station apparatus, minimum system information (SI), the minimum SI being required for initial access, the minimum SI comprising: plural indications, each of the indications indicating whether or not a corresponding system ation block (SIB) of other SI is provided on-demand, the other SI comprising information not provided by the minimum SI, and scheduling information indicating a transmission schedule(s) of one or more SIBs of the other SI; transmitting circuitry configured to transmit a request for transmission of a corresponding SIB of the other SI, in a case where one of the plural indications indicates that the corresponding SIB of the other SI is provided on-demand, wherein; the receiving circuitry is further ured to receive the corresponding SIB of the other SI based on the scheduling information.

A method performed by a user equipment (UE) comprising: receiving, from a base station apparatus, minimum system information (SI), the minimum SI being required for initial access, the minimum SI comprising: plural indications, each of the indications indicating r or not a corresponding system information block (SIB) of other SI is provided on-demand, the other SI comprising information not provided by the minimum SI, and scheduling information ting a transmission schedule(s) of one or more SIBs of the other SI; transmitting a request for transmission of a ponding SIB of the other SI, in a case where one of the plural indications indicates that the corresponding SIB of the other SI is provided on-demand, and; ing the corresponding SIB of the other SI based on the scheduling information.
5. The base station apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the request specifies that a specific SIB of the other SI, being one of plural SIBs of the other SI having corresponding indications in the minimum SI, is requested by UE.
6. The base station apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the minimum SI is configured to indicate that k number of SIBs of the other SI are provided on-demand, and wherein the request specifies that a nth block of the k number of SIBs of the other SI is ted by UE.
7. The UE according to claim 3, wherein the request specifies that a specific SIB of the other SI, being one of plural SIBs of the other SI having corresponding indications in the minimum SI, is requested by UE.
8. The UE according to claim 3, wherein the m SI is configured to indicate that k number of SIBs of the other SI are provided on-demand, and wherein the request specifies that a nth block of the k number of SIBs of the other SI is requested by UE.
9. A base station apparatus according to claim 1, substantially as herein described or exemplified with reference to the accompanying drawings.
10. User equipment (UE) according to claim 3, substantially as herein described or exemplified with reference to the accompanying gs.
11. A method according to claim 4, substantially as herein described or exemplified with reference to the anying drawings.
