Abstract

The invention relates to a method for introducing a borehole (1), in particular into the earth’s crust (3), by means of a drill head (4) which is held in the borehole (1) by a drill rod (5), the drill head (4) comprising a thermal device (5) by the effect of which on the bottom (2) of the borehole (1) material (2) on the level of said bottom is dissolved from the solid phase by phase change and the dissolved material is transported away in the direction of the surface of the earth (7). The thermal device (5) is operated in such a manner that it generates such a high thermal output power that the material is predominantly sublimated during the transition from the solid phase.
