Abstract

The invention describes a trekking/ski/walking pole comprising: a shaft with a lower tip and an upper pivot: a handle; a handle bottom which engages with the upper pivot of the shaft such that the handle can rotate from a maximum position approximately in line with the shaft to a forward position of up to 90 degrees to the shaft; a handle top with a connecting pivot; a connecting rod engaging with this upper pivot on the handle; a pivot at the lower end of the connecting rod; an engagement point on the shaft of the pole for the bottom of the connecting rod which is positioned below the top pivot point of the shaft such that the upper portion of the shaft, the handle and the connecting rod form a triangular construction. The distance between the top pivot of the shaft and the connection point of the connecting rod on the shaft can be adjusted. This alters the length of one side of the triangle, thereby altering the angle of the handle in relation to the shaft. A quick-locking mechanism is incorporated to hold the distance between the top pivot on the shaft and the connection point of the connecting rod on the shaft fixed, thereby locking the angle of the handle.
