Abstract

Device for cooling bulk products including a drum mounted for axial rotation, the drum has perforations distributed over all or part of its cylindrical lateral wall. The device has a motor which drives the drum as well as a thermally insulated chamber of elongate shape along the axis of the drum and enclosing it. The device has means for cooling the products and in addition to the means for cooling the products, the device also has at least one spray manifold for spraying a liquid cryogen. The spray manifold is situated inside the chamber, opposite a portion of the wall of the drum situated level with the area where the products enter the drum. The spray manifold is able to direct liquid cryogen to the wall portion of the drum and through the wall portion via the perforations, towards the products admitted into the drum.
