Abstract

597835 A flexible gasket for sealing an interface between and at the perimeter of a surface mountable item and the surface to which it is to be mounted, with the gasket being one of a strip of gaskets 3 serially engaged to each other. Each of the gaskets 3 comprises a primary substrate portion, a perimeter lip seal 7 disposed at or towards the periphery of the primary substrate portion, and projecting laterally from a major side of the primary substrate portion, the perimeter lip seal 7 being of a perimeter shape to be contiguous to the perimeter of the item. An aperture is provided through the primary substrate portion, with the aperture configured and dimensioned for receiving a relatively incompressible spacer for operational location intermediate of the item and surface, for the item to be compressively fastened against. Upon the fastening of the item to the surface in operation, the perimeter lip seal 7 is engageable by the surface on which the item is to be mounted to seal the interface between the item and the surface around the perimeter of the item, where as a strip of serially engaged gaskets 3 at least two apertures are provided through the primary substrate portion, and where intermediate of each aperture are two parallel transverse lip seals projecting laterally from the primary substrate portion and provided extending between opposed major edge region edges of the perimeter lip seal 7, and where at least one gasket is separable from the strip, the at least one gasket separable from the strip in the region between the two parallel transverse lip seals.
