Abstract

A barrier element 10 for use in forming a road barrier, comprises an elongate barrier body 12 having two sides 16 and two opposed ends extending between the barrier sides, and an end attachment arrangement 24 at each end for operatively attaching that end of the barrier element 10 to the proximate end of an adjacent barrier element 10. The barrier body 12 defines a container within which water can be received for increasing the weight and thereby the inertia of the barrier element 10 in use. At least two vertically extending anchor posts 34, 36 are fully received within the barrier body 12 and mounted thereto, with one anchor post positioned towards one end of the barrier body 12 and the other anchor post positioned towards the other end of the barrier body 12. At least one flexible elongate element 10 extends between the posts 34, 36.
