Abstract

594096 A protective garment in particular for use by motorcyclists. The garment has a protective inner layer (3) and an outer layer which can be made of a fashionable material to give the garment a desirable appearance. The protective inner layer (3) is made of abrasion resistant material and lines substantially the whole of the inside of the garment. The inner layer (3) includes an arm portion and/or a leg portion (4), with the arm portion having a seam only on the inside of the arm portion such that the abrasion resistant material is continuous on the outside of the arm portion, and the leg portion (4) having a seam (6) only on the inside of the leg portion (4) such that the abrasion resistant material is continuous on the outside of the leg portion (4). The inner layer (3) is secured to the outer layer only at corresponding edges of the inner and outer layers which occur at openings of the garment.
