Abstract

585910 Disclosed is an apparatus (415) for receiving interactive audio/video streams over a network (410). The apparatus includes a bus; an Ethernet or a WiFi interface, a video and audio output interface, a controller interface, a video decompressor and an audio decompressor. The Ethernet or WiFi interface and video and audio output interface are both communicatively coupled to the bus. The video and audio output interface is configured to receive low-latency streaming interactive video over the bus from the Ethernet or WiFi interface. The controller interface is also communicatively coupled to the bus and is configured to receive control signals from user input devices (421) and provide the control signals to the Ethernet or WiFi interface. The Ethernet or WiFi interface transmits the control signals over a network (410) to a low-latency streaming interactive compressed video hosting service (210). The hosting service (210) executes a video game or application in response to the control signals and responsively generates low-latency streaming interactive compressed video and audio. The video decompressor decompresses the low-latency streaming interactive compressed video from the hosting service (210) and outputs the decompressed video through the video output interface. The audio decompressor decompresses the audio associated with the low-latency streaming interactive compressed video from the hosting service (210) and outputs the audio through the audio output interface.
