Abstract

A self-checkout kiosk system is disclosed. The self-checkout kiosk system comprises a main housing including a first RF antenna and RFID reader and a remote housing including a second RF antenna and RFID reader. The main housing and remote housing have first and second non-metallic panels. The first RF antenna is positioned adjacent the first non-metallic panel to transmit a TX signal toward an RFID tag corresponding to an item and to receive a RX signal from the RFID tag and the first RFID reader is positioned in the main housing and is connected to the first RF antenna to detect an RFID tag using the RX signal. The second RF antenna is positioned adjacent to the second non-metallic panel to transmit a TX signal toward the RFID tag and to receive a RX signal from the RFID tag and the second RFID reader is positioned in the remote housing and connected to the second RF antenna to receive the RX signal from the RFID tag.
