Abstract

A method of negotiating a reservation for transmission between nodes (A,B,C) in communication network is disclosed. Nodes that are sending data are referred to as Sender End Point (SEP) while those that are receiving data are Receiver End Point (REP). But if nodes have a free option of which end point to be, collisions could occur. This would happen if Node B were the REP for both Node A and C. To overcome this, reservations (R1-R4) are used. Each node is aware of the reservations held by others, as an announcement feature is included. Using this method, if the nodes are in a possible collision distance, the transmission and reception of data could take turns in slots, or interleaved, to ensure no collision occurs.
