Abstract
Described is a method of coating a surface with a polymer layer. The method comprising exposing the surface to a pulsed plasma comprising a monomeric saturated organic compound, wherein the length of the pulse is not constant throughout the deposition process. The organic compound comprising an alkyl chain of at least 5 carbon atoms, wherein the alkyl chain is substituted by halogen and optionally interposed with a heteroatom. The method produces an oil or water repellant coating on a surface.
