Abstract
A method of preparing an aqueous base suspension concentrate comprising at least one ionophore antibiotic in an aqueous system containing: a) a wetting and/or surfactant agent; b) at least one antifreeze agent in which the at least one ionophore antibiotic is no more than sparingly soluble; c) a suspension agent; d) a de-bittering agent; e) an antifoam agent or system; f) a preservative g) a pH buffering system and f) water comprises i) preparing a premix of the preservative and some of the antifreeze agent and preparing a premix of the water, wetting and/or surfactant agent and the antifoam agent or system by mixing to provide a primary mixture; ii) mixing the antibiotic with the primary mixture to provide a secondary mixture and iii) preparing a premix of the suspension agent and the remainder of the antifreeze agent (s) and mixing with the secondary mixture. The concentrate is capable of aqueous dilution is desired and (with or without aqueous dilution) capable of being orally administered to an animal such as by drenching
