Abstract

A device that selectively diffuses light for use as an independent display or in conjuncture with multileveled imaging systems is disclosed. The device comprises a layer which incorporates liquid crystal material between random homogenous alignment layer(s) with a method of applying an electric field to such liquid crystal, with said device being placed at a distance from a transmissive display device, to selectively block polarized light from reaching an LCD layer in the said multilayer display.
