Abstract
A tamper evident squeeze lock closure with a tamper evident ring for a container (2) is disclosed. The closure has an inner skirt (8) and an outer skirt (7); the inner skirt (8) is threaded for engagement with a complementary thread of a container neck (3). The outer skirt has at least two locking lugs (17), which each engage with complementary cam locks (5,6) on the container neck (3), and a tamper-evident ring (11) connected by fragile connectors (12) to the outer skirt. The tamper evident ring (11) has sections (13), alongside the locking lugs (17) and a space adjacent thereto into which the cam locks (5,6) fit when the closure is located on the container neck (3), which are spaced radially relative to the remainder of the tamper evident ring. The sections (13) of the tamper evident ring (11) are stepped relative to the remainder of the ring to thereby form the space adjacent the locking lugs (17), which are at a level with the remainder of the ring so that one of the cam locks (5,6) fits in each space when the closure is located on the container (2).
