Abstract

A multi-pane sashless window comprises a frame 10 having an upper frame member, a lower frame member, side frame members and at least first and second panes 13, 14 mounted in the frame for sliding movement relative to each other and to the frame. The first and second panes are movable from a first, closed position in which the panes 13, 14 overlap to a second position. Movement of one of the panes in one direction causes a corresponding movement of the other pane in the opposite direction. The panes may be movable to a second position in which there is an opening between the first and second panes. The first and second panes may be connected by cord means extending around pulley means. The window may comprise a top pane 11 fixed relative to the upper frame member, a bottom pane 12 fixed to the lower frame member and first and second counterbalanced panes 13, 14 mounted in the window for vertical movement relative to each other and to the frame. The first and second counterbalanced panes may be movable into a position in which openings are formed between the fixed top pane and the counterbalanced panes and between the counter balanced panes and the fixed bottom pane.
