Abstract

A plurality of segment definitions, each associated with service request messages and with data structures in a memory accessible to a Report Program Generator (RPG) application implemented on a proprietary computer system, are stored in a data dictionary module. A specified service request is retrieved from a data structure and the segment definitions of the retrieved service request are determined from the data dictionary module. Control and data information stored in the data structures by the RPG application is read from the data structures associated with the determined segment definitions, a request transaction is generated by formatting the read data into a plurality of segments in accordance with the determined segment definitions, and the request transaction is transmitted to the transaction manager of a transaction management system implemented on an open computer system.
