Abstract
A system for promoting growth of tissue regenerate into a wound area in an organized tissue structure in a living human or animal body from a wound surface of the wound area in a predetermined direction comprising: a) an polysaccharide encasement structure adapted in use to be implanted in the living human or animal body to encase the wound area, b) mechanical guide means in the form of guide channels for the tissue regenerate adapted in use to be disposed in the encased wound area so as to extend in the predetermined direction, and c) a fibrin network formation inhibiting agent which is a thrombin inhibitor like getran, melagatran, inogatran, or hirudin administrable to the wound surface of the encased wound area. This inhibiting agent can be further incorporated within a matrix gel.
