Abstract

A structural member 25, for supporting an appendant structure, e.g. a pergola 27, from a roofing structure 10 having beams 12 and cladding 16, includes a first attachment portion 30, for attachment to one of the beams, a second attachment portion 38, for supporting appendant structure 27 and a connecting means extending between attachment portions 30, 38. The connecting means includes at least two elongate detachable parts 34, 36, both of which have smaller dimensions than portions 30, 38. The connecting means is adapted to extend through the roof cladding 16. Member 25 may include a sealing means, e.g. rubber tube 50 which extends around one of the elongate detachable parts, e.g. threaded rod 34 or tube portion 36, of the connecting means to provide a seal between the part and the roof cladding.
