The body of

2064 1 8

the device is preferably rectangular in plan as shown in Figure 1 of the drawings save for the corner portions 11 which are rounded off as depicted.

The floor contacting surface 12 is longitudinally and laterally rounded as shown in Figure 2 of the drawings to allow it to side freely over a variety of flooring surfaces with little resistance.

The upper surface 13 of the device is shaped to receive a variety of sizes of furniture legs and footings. Referring to Figure 1 of the drawings each corner of the device comprises a moulded portion 14 being L-shaped when viewed in plan. A rim 15 extends between the corner portions. The area 16 confined by the corner portions 14 can receive various sizes of furniture legs or feet which are square, rectangular or circular in cross-section.

To accommodate furniture legs and feet which are circular in cross-section a circular recess 17 is provided in the middle of the body, however, this will also accommodate square or rectangular legs.

In a modified embodiment, apertures may be provided under at least two of the rims on the shorter sides of the body and the rim may be provided with scores so that it may easily be broken off whereby a larger size of furniture leg may be accommodated.

- 3 -

2 0 64 1 8

In the use the device is simply placed under each leg or foot of a piece of furniture. Because of the shape of the device wherein there are no leading edges, the device may easily slide over a variety of surfaces, particularly carpets.

It will be appreciated that modifications may be made to the device without departing from the scope of the invention.
