Abstract
A method is described for identifying compounds capable of binding to a disintegrin protein and determining the amount and affinity of a compound capable of binding to the disintegrin protein in a sample. Also described is a host cell comprising a recombinant expression vector for the disintegrin protein and a recombinant expression vector encoding the disintegrin protein and the human disintegrin metalloprotease protein, fragment or mutant thereof, useful for these purposes. An in vivo or in vitro method has also been described for the determination of osteoarthritis and other metalloproteinase-based diseases, and which is capable of being prepared and used in the form of a kit.
