Abstract

An original rotary washing- or polishing roller of a vehicle-washing plant has a core carrying soft strips of textile- or furry material. Attached to flexible carrier discs (2), their working regions overlap. Strip fly out to larger diameter; hence only they touch the vehicle. In this original design, soft foam discs supports (4, 4') have central circular openings (4a) smaller than the core diameter (D2), onto which they are pushed, in alternation with the discs (2). The grip resulting, forms a type of slipping coupling and transmits limited torque from the core (1) to the supports and discs. End supports (4') rest against retaining discs (5) connecting to the roller core (1). Preferably the support discs (4, 4') are made of open-cell, soft polyurethane (PUR) foam.
