Abstract
The method involves ensuring that a modular communication terminal functions correctly. The terminal includes a base device and several exchangeable modules. When a module is plugged in, the software of the base station, and/or the last connected module, is put out of operation, and the software of the newly connected module is activated. The module with the highest priority takes on the control of the whole device. When a module is plugged in, the software of all modules and the base device may be tested. The module with the highest priority may be plugged into the first module site. The software of the module with the highest priority may include the control programmes of all previously connected modules and the base device. It may test for conflicts with connected modules and change the functioning of the lower priority modules, and the base device.
