Abstract
A system is described for remote control of electricity distribution networks and remote reading of electricity, gas, water and other service meters at customers connected to the relevant grid. More specifically, the system utilizes centralized and distributed intelligence to manage the information and carrier currents at relatively high frequencies over the wires in the electricity grids to transmit the information. The load current system is realized in accordance with a particular method which, unlike the traditional ones, does not utilize high frequency traps and bypasses at the grid nodes. This approach allows the use of power distribution networks without the costly changes required by traditional solutions. This result is obtained by predicting the messages over the radial networks for medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) as they are configured for distribution of electricity, and by properly addressing the various substations and customer meters. Since the configuration of MV and LV electricity grids is subject to change as a result of switching operations made intentionally or as a result of automatic triggering of switching equipment as a result of failure, the procedure of properly addressing and routing messages to their final destinations requires that the state of the network is updated very frequently. This function is performed by the present system and the updating of the state of the network, which in itself is a very important information, must be regarded as an added value of the system.
