Abstract

Device for detecting faults on an overhead electrical energy distribution network, including an electronic circuit (3, 4) which receives a signal representing the homopolar voltage and a signal representing the homopolar current of the line to be monitored, the said electronic circuit performing detection of the transient variations in the homopolar current by comparing the sign of the transient of the homopolar current with that of the transient of the homopolar voltage, characterised in that the homopolar current sensor consists of a coil (3) including a magnetic core (2) and arranged in the vicinity of the line to be monitored (1) perpendicularly to the latter, in that the signal supplied by this coil is sent to an integrator circuit (5) and in that the voltage sensor consists of an electric field sensor arranged at a distance from the line on the latter. <IMAGE>
