Abstract
Det blir fremstilt proteiner ved reaksjonen av en hydrokarbon benyttende mikrober fra et hydrokarbon med lav molekylvekt, slik som metan, i et vandig medium i nærvær av oksygen og en fikserbar nitrogenforbindelse l en reslrkuleringsprosess hvor ikke-reagert hydrokarbon og oksygen blir resirkulert til den proteinfrem- stillende reaktoren. Tilstrekkelig hydrokarbon blir introdusert i systemet for å forhindre dannelsen av en brennende gassblanding. Deler av eller alt hydrokar- bonet kan bli innført til systemet nedstrøms av proteinreaktoren, hvor faren for dannelsen av en brennbar gassblanding er størst.
