Abstract
Oppfinnelsen vedrører en fremgangsmåte ved dekontaminering av metall skr ap, spesielt av aluminium eller aliminiumlegering, forurenset med organisk materiale. Fremgangsmåten innbefatter oppvarming av skrapet i et fluidisert sjikt av faste partikler med oppvarmet f luidiseringsgass til en dekontamineringstemperatur tilstrekkelig hoy for å forbruke det organiske mate- riale, men under metallets smeltepunkt. Oppvarmingen skjer i nærvær av et beskyttende materiale som beskytter aluminiumet eller aluminiumlegeringen mot vesentlig oksydasjon, mens skrapet holdes i sjiktet ved dekon- tamineringstemperaturen. Foretrukne beskyttende mate- rialer innbefatter organiske og uorganiske fluorinne- holdende forbindelser, spesielt A1F3. Fremgangsmåten er spesielt effektiv ved behandling av aluminiumlegeringer inneholdende magnesium, som er spesielt utsatt for oksydasjon. Dekontaminert skrap behandlet som ovenfor angitt kan underkastes konvensjonelle metallgjenvin- ningsprosesser, eksempelvis metall snei t ing, til å gi gjenvunnet metall med høyt utbytte.
