Abstract
A class of polypeptides useful for in vitro diagnosis of Mycoplasma infection in animals is described. These polypeptides are also capable of inducing an immune response in pigs previously unexposed to Mycoplasma. The polypeptides consist of a 50 kd antigenic protein and various truncations of this protein as well as B-galactosidase fusions. Furthermore, various polypeptide fragments are provided in addition to 5'DNA sequences for the genomic clones. Expression is in E. coli. Recombinant DNA methods for producing these polypeptides and certain phage vectors useful in these methods are also described. Methods for vaccinating animals using a vaccination composition which includes these polypeptides are also described.
