Description
FREMGANGSMÅTE VED PEROKSYDBLEKING AV CELLULOSEHOLDIGE MASSER PROCEDURE FOR PEROXIDE BLEACHING OF CELLULOSE-CONTAINING PUPS
Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår peroksydbleking av ligno-celluloseholdig materiale, spesielt mekanisk, termomekanisk og kjemimekanisk masse i utbyttesområde over 70% forttrinn-vis 80-98%, såkalte høybyttemasser. The present invention relates to peroxide bleaching of ligno-cellulosic material, especially mechanical, thermomechanical and chemimechanical pulp in the yield range above 70% gradually 80-98%, so-called high yield pulps.
Peroxide bleaching takes place in an alkaline environment, and according to current technology, sodium hydroxide is used as a base for this purpose. In addition to auxiliary chemicals to achieve maximum lightness during bleaching. These auxiliary chemicals are primarily sodium silicate and magnesium sulphate, and in most cases a complexing agent, such as DTPA, is also used. (DTP'A = Na-salt of diethylene-triamine-pentaacetic acid) In Norwegian application no. 811225 with the title: "Procedure for the production of practically resin-free cellulose pulp" examples of peroxide bleaching using Na-silicate or NaOH as alkali are shown .
En mer omfattende omtale av bleking under anvendelse av peroksyd er å finne i "The Bleaching of Pulp", Third Edition, Revised, tappi press, kapittel 8. A more extensive discussion of bleaching using peroxide is to be found in "The Bleaching of Pulp", Third Edition, Revised, tappi press, Chapter 8.
En typisk resept for peroksydbleking av en mekanisk masse vil således bestå av følgende stoffer: A typical prescription for peroxide bleaching of a mechanical pulp will thus consist of the following substances:
Sodium hydroxide and auxiliary chemicals form a significant part of the bleaching costs for peroxide bleaching, as the costs for these will be in the order of 50% of the peroxide costs.
Den tidligere omtalte blekeresept vil ifølge oppfinnelsen nå se slik ut: It has now surprisingly been shown that during peroxide bleaching of high-yield pulps, all additional chemicals, including sodium hydroxide, can be replaced with a single chemical, namely magnesium oxide. According to the invention, the previously mentioned whitening recipe will now look like this:
This entails a significant cost reduction, up to 50-60% on additional chemicals, i.e. approx. NOK 20-30/h, while the bleaching process is greatly simplified. The invention also means that the yield loss during the bleaching process is smaller compared to current technology, where sodium hydroxide is used as a base. This also means reduced emissions from a magnesium oxide-based bleaching plant.
For integrated factories that have production of magnesium sulphite pulp with chemical recycling and simultaneous production of peroxide-bleached high-yield pulp, one will, due to the present invention could incinerate the bleaching liquor from the hay stock and recover the magnesium oxide. At the same time, the emission burden from the bleaching plant is eliminated.
The invention can be illustrated with the following table, where three pulp types are bleached according to current technology (la, 2a and 3a) and according to a new method according to the invention (lb, 2b and 3b): The bleaching is carried out with 20% consistency at 70°C and 3 hours reaction time.
Eventuelt kan man istedenfor en blanding av magnesiumoksyd og hydrogenperoksyd anvende en foreløper for disse forbindelser, så som magnesiumperoksyd, hvor det vanlige kommersielle produkt inneholder opptil 50% MgG^Magnesium oxide was added in the form of a slurry to the respective masses with subsequent pressing to the desired mass consistency. Alternatively, instead of a mixture of magnesium oxide and hydrogen peroxide, a precursor for these compounds can be used, such as magnesium peroxide, where the usual commercial product contains up to 50% MgG^
mens resten utgjøres hovedsaklig av MgO. while the rest consists mainly of MgO.
