Description
The present invention relates to a method and a device for storing and extracting paint.
Maling lagres vanligvis i metallboks. Paint is usually stored in a metal can. Metal cans have the disadvantage that it is not possible to see into the can without opening it, and it is desirable to be able to see into the can, firstly to check the color of the paint inside the can, and secondly to see where a lot of paint that is in the box.
Boxes also have the disadvantage that they can rust, and that the lids can become coated with a crust of paint. When the cans are opened, there is a risk of rust particles or other solid particles falling into the paint and destroying it.
According to a first aspect of the invention, a device for storing paint has been arrived at, comprising a flexible bag containing the paint, and with a closable outlet for the paint, the bag being located inside a box and the outlet being accessible from the outside of the box. Preferably, the bag is transparent, and a vertical transparent slit is formed in the side of the box, so that the color of the paint and the amount of paint in the bag inside the box can be checked.
The closable outlet may be a screw cap which is screwed onto a threaded neck attached to the bag. Alternatively, the outlet can be a one-way valve at the bottom of the container that can be opened to release paint without admitting air.
The container may comprise a rigid tube extending from the flexible bag to the outer surface of the box to form the outlet.
A cardboard tray, for single use, and with dimensions to match the dimensions of the box, may be attached to the box in the sales condition, so that the box may be sold with a container into which the paint can be poured. A brush or roller may be included in the package.
According to another aspect of the invention, a method for storing and removing paint has been arrived at, the paint being poured into a flexible bag which has a closable outlet, and the bag is closed and placed in a box with the closable outlet accessible from the outside of the box. In the following, the invention will be explained in more detail by means of examples, with reference to the attached drawings. Fig. 1 shows in perspective a first embodiment of a paint container according to the invention. Fig. 2 and 3 show alternative designs of closable outlets.
Fig. 4 viser et snitt gjennom beholderen i fig. 1.Fig. 4 shows a section through the container in fig. 1.
Fig. 5 shows a section through an alternative embodiment of the container. Fig. 6 shows in perspective a third embodiment of a container according to the invention.
Fig. 7 viser beholderen i fig. 6 delvis åpnet.Fig. 7 shows the container in fig. 6 partially opened.
Beholderen vist i fig. The container shown in fig. 1 consists of a box 10 with a handle 12. In the storage condition, the outlet for paint can be covered by a perforated and removable flap 14 in one side of the cardboard box 10. A narrow, vertical slot 16 can be formed in one side of the box, for that the bag inside the box must be visible from the outside, so that when the bag is transparent, it is possible to see the color of the paint. It will be understood that the box 10 can have a similar shape to boxes used for the sale of wine.
Fig. 4 viser et snitt gjennom esken 10. Fig. 4 shows a section through the box 10. A flexible plastic bag 18 inside the box contains the paint, and has an outlet 20 at a lower corner. Fig. 4 shows the outlet 20 projecting through a hole formed after removal of the tab 14. Fig. 2 shows an embodiment of the outlet which is a one-way valve of a type well known for bottling wine. Fig. 3 shows an alternative embodiment where a threaded capsule 22 is screwed onto a neck 24.
The slot 16 in a wall of the box 10 can be equipped with a transparent window 26. Fig. 5 shows an alternative embodiment of the box, where a rigid tube 28 projects from the outlet 20 of the bag to the upper side of the box. The tube 28 projects through the box wall, and is closed by a screw cap 30. The level of paint in the rigid tube 28 can be seen through the window 26.
Fig. 6 shows the box 10 shown in the other figures, and with a tray 32 of cardboard attached to one side of the box. The dimensions of the tray 32 are the same as for the box, so that the tray and the box can be joined using a tear-off adhesive strip 34. The tray 32 can be constructed so that it is waterproof and can be used as a paint tray, as the paint can be poured into the ground from the bag in the box 10. A brush or paint roller can be stored inside the tray 32, so that a single unit in a business can contain everything needed to carry out measuring work. To separate the tray 32 and the box 10, the strip 34 is torn off.
The container described is a well-suited container for paint that does not entail the disadvantages associated with conventional paint cans. The box 10 will usually be opaque, to prevent the paint from being exposed to harmful effects from light.
Any type of paint can be stored in the container. For oil-based paints, it is most appropriate to use a one-way valve, so that air does not enter the container and form a film. If, however, a film should form, this will form over the paint, at a distance from the outlet.
