Description
The present invention relates to a clearing device for mounting on an all-terrain vehicle for clearing scrub, brambles, high-growing heather, etc. on preferably large open areas in the terrain, comprising a powered rotating tool for cutting or cutting into pieces the said growths.
Known clearing equipment of the above-mentioned type includes rotating implements mounted on an all-terrain vehicle so that the implement clears a field corresponding to its own width during progress.
One tool can then be used with e.g. a width corresponding to the width of the vehicle, possibly several implements of smaller width which are placed next to each other to cover the width of the vehicle. Said tools can e.g.
Slike redskaper kan f.eks. rotere om en horisontal aksel be driven from the vehicle's power take-off, cf. tractors, or they can be equipped with hydraulic rotary motors that are supplied with pressurized medium from the vehicle's hydraulic system. Such tools can e.g. rotate about a horizontal axis
Redskaper av typen med vertikal dreieakse vil som regel bli bygget med mindre arbeidsbredde og det vil da være nødvendig med minst to redskaper montert ved siden av hverandre for å oppnå and include e.g. cylinder blades as in a regular lawnmower or knives or impact tools which are attached to the axle and which during its:.:rotation strike or cut against the vegetation and cut and possibly break it into pieces. Tools with horizontal axles can be built with sufficient length corresponding to the width of the vehicle. Implements of the type with a vertical axis of rotation will usually be built with a smaller working width and it will then be necessary to have at least two implements mounted next to each other to achieve
en arbeidsbredde tilsvarende kjøretøyets bredde.a working width corresponding to the width of the vehicle.
It is of course possible to build clearing equipment with a wider width than the vehicle it is mounted on. Such clearing equipment with a width greater than the width of the vehicle, however, has practical disadvantages when driving in terrain where various types of obstacles such as stumps, stones, piles of earth etc. can lie at such a small distance that the vehicle with such a wide clearing equipment cannot come forward. This means that a vehicle with such clearing equipment cannot clear the areas between said obstacles.
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a clearing equipment of the initially mentioned type which, during normal movement of the vehicle, clears the field of the initially mentioned growths in a width that substantially exceeds the width of the vehicle, which working width can be reduced as desired to a width equal to or less than the width of the vehicle depending on the conditions in question. With a clearing equipment according to the present invention, one will thus be able to clear the field of the above-mentioned plants in between erecting obstacles of various kinds. According to the invention, this has been achieved with the help of the above-mentioned cleaning equipment with the characteristic features which are stated in the subsequent claim 1 and in the subsequent independent claims.
It appears from the aforementioned requirements that the clearing equipment can be controlled automatically in the desired working width during the vehicle's movement and that this automatic control also includes an overload protection device which reduces the clearing equipment's working width or reach to one or the other side of the vehicle if the equipment hits an obstacle. In addition to the automatic control, the cleaning equipment can also be manually maneuvered from the driver's seat of the vehicle so that the tool can be brought into the desired place between different obstacles or can be guided around different obstacles by a combination of maneuvering the tool as well as forward and backward driving of the vehicle, possibly with swinging of this. An embodiment of the invention will be described in the following with reference to the drawing where
fig. 1 and 2 show an all-terrain vehicle with rear-mounted cleaning equipment, seen respectively from the side and from above, and
fig. 3 samme sett i perspektiv under arbeid i terrenget. fig. 3 same seen in perspective during work in the terrain.
The drawing shows a clearing equipment 1: mounted on an all-terrain vehicle 2. The clearing equipment comprises a driven rotating tool 3 which may be of a known construction in and of itself, for cutting or cutting to pieces the aforementioned plants. The tool 3 is mounted on an arm 4 which can be raised and lowered as well as laterally pivotable and arranged on a frame 1a for releasable connection to coupling members 2b on the vehicle 2. In the frame 1a, a vertical post 1b is pivotally supported on which the arm 4 is pivotally supported about a horizontal bolt 4a. A pressure cylinder 5 is arranged between the arm 4 and the post 1b for raising and lowering the arm with the tool 3. A pressure cylinder 6 is connected to a console 1c on the post 1b and a point 1d on an arm 1e projecting laterally from the frame 1a for swinging the arm 4 with the tool 3 between two extreme positions B,C, (see fig. 2). The tool 3 is via a pendulum arm 8 pivotably suspended in a bolt 9 on the arm 4's outer end 4'•. A pressure cylinder 7 is placed between the arm 4 and the tool 3 for swinging this for adjustment to the ground plane. The tool 3 is preferably hydraulically driven by means of a hydraulic motor placed in connection with the tool 3 itself and which is supplied with pressure medium via pressure hoses in a known manner. Said pressure cylinders 5,6,7 and the tool's 3 drive motor can be maneuvered from the vehicle's driver's seat 2a. The implement 3 is provided with sliding surfaces 3a to facilitate its sliding progress across the ground. During transport of the cleaning equipment, the vehicle 2 is driven forward in the usual way while the arm 4 with the implement 3 is swung up to the transport position D as shown in fig. 1. When forcing a steep hill or other obstacle, the arm 4 with the tool 3 can be pressed against the ground to prevent the vehicle from going steep. This is achieved by the fact that the pressure cylinder 5 is designed to be double-acting in order to thereby achieve the aforementioned pressing down of the arm 4.
2. During use of the clearing equipment 1, the vehicle is backed up at a slow speed, as the driver thereby from the driver's seat 2a has a good upper side over the terrain with any obstacles and the movement of the implement 3 in this. The arm 4 is continuously swung back and forth between the extreme positions B, C by means of the pressure cylinder 6 at a speed adapted to the vehicle's forward speed so that each arc-shaped working field overlaps each other. Due to the length of the arm 4, which at least corresponds to the width of the vehicle 2, it is possible to clear the field of vegetation in a width corresponding to e.g. the vehicle's 2 double width as shown in fig. 2.
Armen 4 med redskapet 3 har her en utslagsvinkel a = 45°The arm 4 with the tool 3 here has an opening angle a = 45°
til hver side av kjøretøyets 2 vertikale sentralplan A.to either side of the vehicle's 2 vertical central plane A.
When there are obstacles in the form of stones, mounds of earth, etc., the angle of attack a of the arm 4 can be reduced and, under certain conditions, the movement can also be stopped so that the arm 4 with tool 3 can be maneuvered into narrow passages between obstacles and clear the ground. As mentioned, the attachment of the tool 3 to the ground can be controlled by means of the pressure cylinders 7 which can set the tool 3 at the desired angle, whereby it can be brought into good contact with existing sloping surfaces in small dumps in the terrain, thereby cutting the vegetation as close to the ground as possible. The implement 3 can also be used for clearing ditches or embankments along which the vehicle drives, as the arm 4 can be brought to the desired position using the raising/lowering cylinder 5 and the swing cylinder 6 as well as adjusting the inclination of the implement to the ground using the pressure cylinder 7.
When clearing in open terrain, the arm 4 can be controlled automatically back and forth using equipment known per se between its two extreme positions B,C. In order to prevent mechanical overloading of the tool 3 when it collides with an obstacle during the turning movement, an overload protection device is arranged in the automatic control for reversing the direction of movement of the arm 4 when the working pressure in the pressure cylinder 6 exceeds a predetermined value due to the arm 4 having reached one of its extreme positions B, C or that the tool 3 hits an obstacle. Such systems are generally known and are therefore not described in more detail here.
With the above-described clearing equipment according to the invention mounted on an off-road vehicle, a very good clearing of undergrowth, brambles and high-growing heather is achieved in a wide working field on open surfaces in the terrain. Due to the flexible maneuvering of the arm 4 with implement 3, a possibility of clearing vegetation between protruding obstacles is achieved at the same time to a degree that has not been possible until now when the clearing implement has been non-movably fixed on the vehicle with a working width equal to or greater than vehicle width.
During the swing of the arm 4 back and forth between the extreme points B, C, the pressure cylinder 5 can be pressed loosely so that the tool 2 rests against the ground and follows its curvature, whereby the vegetation is cut as close to the root as possible.
Ved en kombinasjon av kutting samt istykkerslåingBy a combination of cutting and breaking into pieces
av vegetasjonen i redskapet 3, som i og for seg kjent, blir den ryddede vegetasjon liggende som et lag på bakken hvilket bevirker en hurtigere nedbrytning av det organiske materialet. of the vegetation in the tool 3, which is known in and of itself, the cleared vegetation lies as a layer on the ground, which causes a faster breakdown of the organic material.
For possible collection and further utilization of the cut and broken plants, a collection device can be placed in connection with the tool 3, e.g. in that the cover 3b of the tool 3 is connected to a suction hose which sucks the emerging particles into a collection container on the vehicle 2 (not shown).
