Abstract

Surge absorber (1) for reducing fluid hammer in a supply pipe (2) transporting a fluid column in a downstream direction (F) to a firewater monitor (3), the surge absorber (1) being installable inside a portion of the supply pipe (2) forming a restricted and extended flowline upstream the firewater monitor (3), wherein the surge absorber (1) and the supply pipe (2) are defining a first annulus (111) in fluid communication with opposite directed second and third annuli (121, 131) defined inside the surge absorber (1) and arranged in series, the third annulus (131) being downstream connected to an open end (13d) of a damper pipe (13) arranged inside the supply pipe (2) and providing a cushioning air filled column (133); and the second annulus (121), the third annulus (131) and the damper pipe (13) are fluid communicating With drainage openings (117,141).Surge absorber (1) for reducing fluid hammer in a supply pipe (2) transporting a fluid column in a downstream direction (F) to a firewater monitor (3), the surge absorber (1) being installable inside a portion of the supply pipe (2) forming a restricted and extended flowline upstream of the firewater monitor (3), the surge absorber (1) and the supply pipe (2) are defining a first annulus (111) in fluid communication with opposite directed second and third annuli ( 121, 131) defined inside the surge absorber (1) and arranged in series, the third annulus (131) being downstream connected to an open end (13d) of a damper pipe (13) arranged inside the supply pipe (2) and providing and cushioning air filled column (133); and the second annulus (121), the third annulus (131) and the damper pipe (13) are fluid communicating with drainage openings (117,141).
