Description
Beskrivelse Description
Acoustic/semi-acoustic guitar made from fully welded steel plates. In order to create a new sound image, the invention is that the guitar's acoustic part, called the body, is made in a welded part, consisting of 9mm steel plates, which are cut and shaped like a guitar, made with cavities, resonance rooms like on a normal acoustic guitar. Back plate (bottom) and top plate (lid) are shaped, two paths are curved with e.g. an English wheel. This is to achieve a beautiful appearance and to achieve the right resonance in the sound. In addition, a solid self-supporting shell construction is achieved. The aim is that it "sings", reverberation is created in the steel walls themselves and that a special sound is thereby created, completely different from what is usual with wooden guitars. A sound of its own, which is particularly suitable for certain types of music, e.g. blues, jazz, etc. In addition, I recommend picking up the sound further to amplifiers via two different systems at the same time: 1: via a built-in microphone (like on an acoustic guitar) and 2: via pickups, which pick up the sound directly from the strings (like on a electric guitar). This will provide unique opportunities for mixing sound (especially advantageous on stage or during live recording). The guitar body should not be thicker than 3-5 cm. It should be fully welded so that the sound (vibrations from the strings) can propagate effectively from the strings via the guitar's neck, lid and base.
Tittel Akustisk/semiakustisk gitar, fremstilt av helsveisede stålplater. Title Acoustic/semi-acoustic guitar, made from fully welded steel plates.
The purpose of the invention is to create a guitar with a special, characteristic metallic sound, which is long-awaited for many musicians, e.g. to blues, rock, jazz.
Bakgrunn for oppfinnelsen Background for the invention
I tillegg får man mulighet til å kombinere både akustisk lyd og elgitarlyd i en og samme gitar, uten å ty til kunstige konverteringer (effektpedaler) This special sound (as mentioned above) is achieved by using metal in the resonance chamber (guitar body) Preferably steel plates. Other acoustic guitars are known to use different types of wood, which are good for their purpose, but which do not have the desired sound for some types of music. In addition, you get the opportunity to combine both acoustic sound and electric guitar sound in one and the same guitar, without resorting to artificial conversions (effect pedals)
Kort sammendrag Short summary
Steel plates approx. 9 mm. cut in the shape of a guitar, rolled in an "English wheel" and shaped slightly curved both ways (convex) plus a rim (edge) all around that make up "walls" form a perfect space for the right resonance. Sound hole is not necessary. It is also not desirable, as they easily create feed back, and you usually connect amplifiers anyway.
Kort beskrivelse av tegningene Brief description of the drawings
The attached photos show an example of a fully welded guitar body made of 9mm steel plate, with space for a battery case and "dashboard" for tuning and settings of the internal sound. You can also see the attachment flange for the guitar neck and the opening in the lid for the plectrum plate with pickups for the electric guitar sound, and the opening for the chair/w arm. This construction is very stable and works very well.
Konkrete eksempler Concrete examples
You can make many variations of this type of guitar, e.g. full-size acoustic (so-called acoustic guitar) But I have achieved the best sound with this "thin" semi-acoustic type that I have described above and which I have also attached as a picture, but it is of course taste and preference. As you can see from the picture, I have narrowed the body of the guitar where the guitarist usually has the inside of his right arm next to the guitar, so that it will be comfortable to use. This construction (fully welded steel plates) can also be used on other stringed instruments if you want the special sound, e.g. bass, violin, cello, double bass etc. Even piano/grand piano. The use of metal in resonance boxes for stringed instruments is new, but metal in other sound contexts is not new, e.g. glockenspiel, various percussion instruments, xylophone, wind instruments etc.
