Description
Coffee fat separator for a take-away cup
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a coffee fat separator for a take-away cup.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Epidemiologic and mechanistic studies have revealed and reported that “diterpenes”, “cafestol”, and to a lesser extent “kahweol”, that are naturally found in coffee oil or fat and in unfiltered coffees, can alter lipid enzymes and thus influence cholesterol levels in a human body. This relationship was found to be linear with increasing “cafestol” consumption (according to Urgert and Katan, 1997). A metaanalysis of a set of 18 clinical intervention trials on coffee consumption and cholesterol and serum lipids was performed in 2001 by Jee, et al. The authors corroborated the dose-response relationship between coffee consumption and cholesterol and observed a strong increase upon the consumption of six (-6-) or more cups of boiled coffee per day, which was not observed when a paper filter was used. Thus drinking unfiltered coffee can have cholesterol-raising effects in the human body due to the “diterpenes”. It is however known that the cholesterol-elevating effect of boiled-type coffee disappears when the liquid is poured through a paper filter before consumption, because the lipid(s) from the coffee fat is(are) retained in the paper filter.
Therefore, there is a need for finding other ways of isolating or separating the coffee fat from the coffee liquid to be consumed, than just using paper filters.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
It is thus an object of the invention to provide another way for isolating or separating the coffee fat from the coffee liquid to be consumed.
Another object of the invention is to provide an alternative to paper filters that are used in filtering hot or warm coffee drinks.
According to an aspect of the invention this is achieved with a new coffee fat separator adapted for a take-away cup, where the main features of the present invention are given in the independent claim, and additional features of this invention are given in the dependent claims.
The present invention teaches a new separator that is adapted for separation of at least one undesired or unhealthy drink substance. The separator comprises an elongated structure having two end sides. The elongated structure of the separator can be arranged with a canal or duct allowing for a fluid or liquid to pass therethrough. A bottom end side of the separator is adapted to be passed through an opening of a cover for a cup. And a top end side of the separator is adapted to be fitted on or onto the cover, so that an inner or lower surface of the top end side of the separator, that is facing an outer or upper surface of the cover, is adapted to fit with a certain or predetermined area of the outer or upper surface of the cover that is around the opening of the cover and to thus follow or cooperate with each other curves in such a way that, when fitted or set together, the separator and the cover will be firmly but detachably connected.
The elongated structure of the separator can have a predetermined length adapted to the length of the cup in such a manner that when the top end side of the separator is fitted on / onto the cover the bottom end side of the separator will be in the proximity of the bottom of the cup. The elongated structure can be bent or curved in such a manner to be able follow the form or design of a wall of the cup.
The separator can be made of a disposable material. Alternatively, the separator can be made of a non-disposable material.
The top end side of the separator can be adapted to be pressed or snapped onto the cover. Alternatively, the separator can be made together with the cover for the cup as one rigid element.
The outer or upper surface of the top end side of the separator can be adapted as a drinking area being suitable for a user or a person.
Said at least one undesired or unhealthy drink substance to be separated by the separator can be at least one of: coffee fat, diterpenes, cafestol and kahweol.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
These and other aspects of the invention are apparent from and will be further elucidated, by way of example(s), with reference to the drawings, wherein:
Fig. 1 shows a cross-sectional cut view of a coffee fat separator according to the present invention and adapted for a take-away cup.
Fig. 2 illustrates in perspective how the coffee fat separator according to the present invention is fitted on a cover or lid of the take-away cup.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS
Fig. 1 (a cross-sectional cut view) illustrates a coffee fat separator 30 according to the present invention that is adapted to be fit on a cover 20 for a takeaway cup 10. The coffee fat separator 30 has an elongated structure 55, 70 with two end sides 40, 60. The elongated structure 55, 70 of the separator 30 can be constituted of at least three parts: a bottom elongated structure 70, a top elongated structure 55 and a predetermined curved area 75 therebetween. The elongated structure 55, 70 of the separator 30 is hollow, i.e. is supplied with a canal or duct 45. The separator 30 is adapted to be threaded, from an open bottom end side 40 thereof (i.e. the bottom end side of the bottom elongated structure 70), through an opening 50 of the cover 20 for the take-away cup 10. The bottom end side 40 of the bottom elongated structure 70 has an opening thus constituting the bottom end of the canal or duct 45. The elongated structure 55, 70 has a certain predetermined length adapted to the length of the take-away cup 10 in such a manner that when a top end side 60 of the separator 30 is fitted on or onto the cover 20 then the bottom end side 40 of the separator 30 will be in the proximity of the bottom 15 of the take-away cup 10. The inner or lower surface of the top end side 60 of the separator 30, that is facing the outer or upper surface of the cover 20, is adapted to fit with a certain area of the outer or upper surface of the cover 20 that is located around the opening 50 of the cover 20 and to follow or cooperate with each other curves in such a way that, when fitted or set together, the cover 20 and the separator 30 will be firmly but detachably connected, i.e. shall act as one rigid body although they are two separate elements. Alternatively, the cover or lid 20 and the separator 30 can be made as one element. The elongated structure 55, 70 can be bent or curved 75 in a certain or predetermined area 75 of the separator 30 in order to follow the form or design of the wall 16 of the cup 10. The top side of the top elongated structure 55 ends or terminates in the top end side 60 of the separator 30, wherein there is another opening constituting the open top end of the canal or duct 45. The separator 30 can be made of a disposable material, such as but not limited to rigid or firm paper, or cardboard, or certain plastics. Alternatively, the separator 30 can be made of a non disposable material, such as but not limited to metal(s), alloy(s) or some plastics. The same alternative embodiments can be specified for at least one of: the take-away cup 10 and the cover 20. In an embodiment, the cross-section of the bottom end side 40 of the separator 30 can be visibly less than the cross-section of the opening 50 in the cover 20. In another embodiment, the cross-section of the bottom end side 40 of the separator 30 can be invisibly less (e.g. only micrometres or microns) than the cross-section of the opening 50 in the cover 20. The outer or upper surface of the top end side 60 of the separator 30 can be adapted as a drinking area that should be suitable for a user or a person.
Fig. 2 (a perspective view) shows the coffee fat separator 30 according to the present invention in perspective, wherein it is better visualized how the inner or lower surface of the top end side 60 of the separator 30 fits with the predetermined area of the outer or upper surface of the cover 20, where the predetermined area is around the opening 50 of the cover 20, so that all the curves and forms of the hole’s 50 area of the cover 20 and the separator’s 30 top end side area 60 cooperate with each other. It is also illustrated how the drinking area is arranged in order to be suitable for a user or a person.
The designs and constructions of the coffee fat separator 30 are such that a successful separation of at least one undesired or unhealthy drink substance, such as but not limited to e.g. coffee fat, will be achieved.
Additional modifications, alterations and adaptations of the present invention will suggest themselves to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention as expressed and stated in the following patent claims.
