Transformator Transformer
The present invention relates to a transformer for an electrical power distribution system. More specifically, the present invention relates to a high-voltage transformer for an electrical power distribution system in the form of an offshore system for electrical power transmission from a power source to a consumer unit over a power transmission line comprising an offshore cable section.
Bakgrunn for oppfinnelsen Background for the invention
Offshore systems can be used to pump oil and/or gas from wells below the seabed. Such systems may include pumps driven by electric motors to pump the oil and/or gas. Such pumps can be located several hundred kilometers from the coast and can be supplied with electrical power from a power supply system arranged on land. When power is transmitted through cables of such a length, various problems can arise, such as, for example, electrostatic charging of the cable that carries power to the pump. Such an electrostatic charge on the cable can cause an overvoltage on the pump motor, which can ultimately lead to damage to the electrical insulation in the pump motor, connection system, cable and/or surface-mounted electrical equipment. In addition, during operation of a pump connected to the power supply system, the load on the electric motor driving the pump may vary over time. Reducing the load will further exacerbate the problem of electrostatic charging of the cable carrying power to the pump. On the other hand, voltage drop in the cable under load can result in the electric motor being supplied with a voltage below the nominal one. This is very unfortunate and can lead to early aging and eventually thermal damage to the insulation in the windings of the electric motor.
In order to solve these problems, it is desirable to provide regulating means for regulating the voltage of the pump motor. Regulating means can be in the form of a transformer with adjustable voltage. Traditionally, an adjustable voltage from a transformer has been provided by arranging steps on the windings, where these steps are led out to terminals so that the number of turns on a winding can be changed. The voltage between each stage depends on the number of turns between each stage. The steps are connected to a type of circuit breaker called a step switch. However, tap-changers are mechanically complicated and require frequent maintenance, which makes them unsuitable for placement on the seabed.
US patent 6,933,822 to Haugs et al. describes a magnetically affected current or voltage regulator and a magnetically affected transformer. The problem of regulating a pump motor on the seabed is also described. Haug et al. however, only describes a single-phase transformer solution. A number of reasons favor the use of three-phase voltage for the operation of high-power equipment such as pump motors for pumping oil from the seabed. In the patent, it is proposed to use three identical, independent converters to deliver three-phase voltage.
US Patent 6,137,391 to Mitamura et al. describes a three-phase flux-regulated type variable transformer. The transformer comprises a first and a second magnetic circuit and two separate magnetic cores. A control winding is arranged to induce magnetic flux. The voltage from a secondary winding can be changed continuously by adjusting the excitation current through the control winding. However, the transformer described in Mitamura is too complicated to be suitable for placement on the seabed.
US patent 3,622,868 to Todt describes an adjustable power transformer with a magnetic shunt. This adjustable power transformer consists of a primary winding and a secondary winding placed coaxially on the center leg of an E-type laminated magnetic core, which is separated by a layer of I-type lamination with two coils wound. The I-type laminates function as a magnetic shunt for flux generated by the primary coil and serve as magnetic coupling between the E-type laminates on the primary and secondary sides of the transformer.
Sammenfatning av oppfinnelsen Summary of the Invention
It is an aim of the present invention to provide a transformer for regulating voltage to one or more power consumers, such as equipment placed on the seabed, where the transformer solves the problems with previously known technology.
Another aim of the present invention is to provide a transformer which is suitable for placing on the seabed and from which it is possible to regulate the voltage.
A further aim of the present invention is to provide a transformer which is robust and uncomplicated while at the same time being able to regulate the voltage from the transformer.
A further aim of the present invention is to provide a multiphase transformer comprising at least three primary windings, three secondary windings and at least one control winding which makes it possible to regulate the voltage on the secondary windings, the transformer being robust, compact and suitable for placement on the seabed.
At least one of the above objectives is achieved with a transformer according to independent claim 1.
A transformer according to a first aspect of the invention comprises at least a first leg and a second leg of magnetic material, each leg comprising a longitudinal axis, an upper end and a lower end; an upper yoke in contact with the upper end of each leg, a lower yoke in contact with the lower end of each leg. The transformer further comprises at least one primary winding arranged on at least one of the legs and arranged to produce alternating magnetic flux in a closed magnetic circuit which is represented by the legs and yokes, and at least one secondary winding arranged on at least one of the legs. The transformer is characterized by the fact that at least one of the yokes comprises two parallel lower yokes, and by a yoke connector that connects the two lower yokes, and by the fact that the transformer comprises at least one control winding arranged on the yoke connector and arranged to produce direct current (direct) magnetic flux in a closed magnetic circuit represented of the yoke and the yoke connector, where the yoke connector is arranged in a magnetically symmetrical position.
With a transformer according to the invention, the voltage across the at least one secondary winding can be regulated. The control windings produce a direct current magnetic flux mainly only in the yokes. It is recommended to use a power source to supply the control windings. By regulating the current in the control winding, the voltage across the secondary winding can be regulated within the construction area. Furthermore, the coupling of magnetic flux produced by the primary windings is minimized. When the control winding is not energized, the transformer acts like a normal transformer.
The winding axis of each primary winding and the winding axis of each secondary winding are preferably substantially coaxial with the longitudinal axis of their respective legs. This has advantages in terms of transfer efficiency, i.e. the efficiency for transferring electrical energy in the primary winding to electrical energy in the secondary winding via magnetic flux in the legs. Preferably, both yokes will comprise two parallel lower yokes and a yoke connector that connects the two lower yokes with a longitudinal axis for each yoke connector. Preferably, the transformer also includes a control winding arranged on each of the yoke connectors. By having two yoke connectors and two control windings, it is possible to regulate the voltage across the secondary windings more precisely.
The control windings can be connected in series. This is advantageous in that only one control circuit is required to regulate such series-connected control windings.
The longitudinal axes of the yoke connectors can be essentially parallel to each other and are advantageously coaxial. A symmetrical transformer is then easier to produce.
Preferably, the control windings are connected so that they produce magnetic flux in opposite directions, i.e. they have opposite winding directions. In this way, the voltage induced in the control windings by magnetic flux originating from the voltage across the primary windings can be minimized.
Almost all transformers for use in high-voltage applications are three-phase transformers. A three-phase transformer according to the invention has three legs. It is nevertheless possible within the scope of the invention to have more than three phases and legs, and to have only one phase and two legs.
Fortrinnsvis vil transformatoren omfatte ett ben for hver fase. Preferably, the transformer will comprise one leg for each phase.
If the transformer is a multiphase transformer, it may comprise a primary winding and a secondary winding on each of the legs. By placing both primary winding and secondary winding on the same leg, the magnetic coupling can be optimised.
The longitudinal axes of the yoke connectors can form a common axis of symmetry. In the case where the transformer has two yoke connectors, their longitudinal axes should preferably coincide. The legs are preferably aligned symmetrically around the axis of symmetry.
The transformer may have a cover that encloses the legs, yoke and windings, where the cover is filled with oil. The oil insulates the windings and provides cooling for the core and windings.
The primary windings can be arranged for a voltage of at least 400 V, preferably at least 1000 V. It is primarily for such high voltage applications that the invention is intended to be used.
Transformers for high voltage applications are almost exclusively three-phase transformers. The transformer according to the invention is therefore primarily a three-phase transformer.
The yokes and legs together form a single core. The transformer is therefore a single-core transformer. There is one common magnetic circuit for all phases. This gives a greater power density for the converter.
According to another aspect of the present invention, a transformer according to the invention is used placed on the seabed and connected to one or more power consumers, such as power equipment on the seabed. It is primarily for such use that the transformer according to the invention is intended.

Figure 1 shows a single-phase transformer 100 according to a first embodiment of the present invention, which has a core of magnetic material. The core comprises a first leg 1 with a longitudinal axis 31, and a second leg 2 with a longitudinal axis 32, an upper yoke 3 which is in contact with the upper end of each leg 1, 2, which comprises a first lower angle 4 and a second lower angle 5 , and a lower yoke 6 which comprises a first lower yoke 7 and a second lower yoke 8. The transformer also comprises an upper yoke connector 9 which connects the upper lower yokes 4, 5, and a lower yoke connector 10 which connects the lower lower yokes 7, 8. The yoke connectors 9 , 10 has a common longitudinal axis 30 which is also the axis of symmetry for the transformer 100. The transformer also has an upper control winding II arranged on the upper yoke connector and a lower control winding 12 arranged on the lower yoke connector. The control windings are designed to produce a magnetic flux in the yokes. A primary winding 13 is arranged on the first leg 1, and a secondary winding 14 is arranged on the second leg 2.
During operation of the transformer 100, a primary alternating voltage is applied to the primary winding 13. Primary winding 13 is thus arranged to produce an alternating magnetic flux in a closed magnetic circuit represented by the legs and yokes. When no voltage is applied to the control windings, the primary voltage will produce a magnetic flux, indicated by the dashed line 15. The alternating magnetic flux induces a secondary voltage across the secondary winding 14. When a static control voltage is applied to the upper control winding 11, a direct current (constant) magnetic flux, shown by the solid line 16, in the yoke connector 9 and in the lower yokes 4, 5 on the upper yoke 3. In a similar way, a static control voltage on the lower control winding will produce a constant magnetic flux in the yoke connector 10 and the lower yokes 7, 8 on the lower yoke 6. The control windings 11, 12 are therefore designed to produce a direct current magnetic flux in a closed magnetic circuit represented by the yokes and the yoke connectors. If the control voltage(s) is sufficiently high, the magnetic material in the yoke connector and sub-ring 4, 5, 7, 8 will become saturated, and the reluctance in these components will increase, preventing the magnetic flux produced by the primary voltage from reaching the secondary winding. On the other hand, leakage flux from the primary winding will increase. This will ultimately lead to essentially zero voltage across the secondary winding 14. By regulating the voltage across the control windings 11, 12, the voltage across the secondary winding 14 can be controlled.
Figure 2 shows a three-phase transformer 200 according to a second embodiment of the present invention, which has a single yoke connector 9. The transformer comprises a first leg 18 with a longitudinal axis 19, a second leg 20 with a longitudinal axis 21 and a third leg 22 with a longitudinal axis 23. The legs 18, 20, 22 are connected by an upper yoke 24 and a lower yoke 25. The transformer also has an axis of symmetry 26, and the legs 18, 20, 22 are aligned symmetrically around this. The upper yoke 24 comprises a first lower yoke 27 and a second lower yoke 28, the lower yokes 27, 28 being connected via said yoke connector 9 in a magnetically symmetrical position. A control winding 29 is arranged on the yoke connector 9. A first primary winding 33 and a first secondary winding 34 are arranged on the first leg 18. A second primary winding 35 and a second secondary winding 36 are arranged on the second leg 20. A third primary winding 37 and a third secondary winding 38 is arranged on the third leg 22.
The operation of the three-phase transformer corresponds to the operation of the single-phase transformer described above. When a control winding 29 is thus supplied with sufficient current, the magnetic material in the upper yoke will be saturated. The magnetic flux produced by the primary windings 33, 35, 37 is then prevented from passing the upper yoke, which will lead to a significantly lower voltage on the secondary windings 34, 36, 38. By regulating the current in the control winding 29, a control the voltage on the secondary windings 34, 36, 38. Figure 3 shows a three-phase transformer 300 according to a third embodiment of the present invention, which comprises two yoke connectors 9, 10. The only difference between this transformer and the transformer in figure 2 is that also the lower yoke 25 comprises a first lower section 40 and a second lower section 41 which are connected via a lower yoke connector 10 where a second control winding 43 is arranged. By having two yoke connectors 9, 10 and two control windings 29, 43, the secondary voltage can be controlled more precisely. Furthermore, when alternating voltage is applied to the primary windings, some of the magnetic flux that is generated will be able to be connected into the yoke connectors 9, 10 despite the fact that these are arranged in a magnetically symmetrical position. The magnetic flux that is connected into the yoke connectors 9, 10 will in this way produce a voltage in the control windings which can damage electronics connected to the control windings 29, 43. By aligning the control windings 29, 43 as shown in figure 4, i.e. with their winding directions mutually oppositely directed, the voltage across the control windings originating from magnetic flux induced by voltages impressed on the primary windings 33, 35, 37 can be considerably reduced. Figure 5 shows a transformer connected to a motor where both are arranged on the seabed 50. The transformer 300 comprises a cover 49 which encloses the legs 18, 20, 22, the yokes 24, 25 and the windings 33-38. The cover 49 is filled with oil. The transformer 300 is arranged on the seabed 50. The secondary windings 34, 36, 38 of the transformer 300 are connected to equipment in the form of a motor 52 by means of a cable 53. The primary windings 33, 35, 37 of the transformer 300 are connected to a supply cable 54 which supplies electrical energy from a power station on land. A control device 55 is connected to the transformer 300 and is designed to regulate the current in the control windings 29, 43. The control device 55 can be designed to use a small proportion of the supplied power from the supply cable 54.
