Abstract

Field of the Invention The present invention relates to methods for using polymer-coated particles in underground operations such as gravel packing, unpacking and hydraulic fracturing. An embodiment of the present invention comprises providing a method for treating an underground formation comprising providing a treatment fluid comprising particles at least partially coated with polymer, said polymer deposited on said particles by at least partially coating said particles with a polymer solution comprising the polymer and a solvent and then exposing the particles to an aqueous medium so that the solvent is separated from the polymer solution and so that the polymer remains essentially on the particles, introducing a treatment fluid into a portion of the underground formation and depositing at least a portion of the particles in the relevant part of the underground formation.
