Abstract

Treatment fluids are provided which comprise an aqueous base liquid, an acid and a surfactant in the form of a methyl ester sulfonate, and a process for using the same. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method of acid treating an underground formation comprising providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous base liquid, an acid and a surfactant for introducing a methyl ester sulfonate, into introducing the treatment fluid into a well which penetrates the subterranean formation. one cavity is formed in the underground formation. In some cases, the treatment fluid exhibits viscoelastic behavior which may be due to partial association of at least a portion of the surfactant in the lining of a methyl ester sulfonate in a variety of micelle structures.
