Plastpellets innbefattende polyamider og polystyrenpellets tverrbundet med divinylbenzen, som har et herdbart harpiksbelegg, er meget nyttige for sandstyring og/eller hydraulisk frakturering av undergrunnsformasjoner. Plastpelleten som er belagt med herdbar harpiks har fortrinnsvis en tilsynelatende spesifikk vekt mindre enn omkring 1,5.
