Abstract
Fremgangsmåte for geofysisk prospektering for tynne hydrokarbonfylte reservoarer basert på analyse av anisotropi i elektrisk resistivitet av målformasjonen. En fjernresistivitetskartleggingssurvey, fortrinnsvis optimalisert for anisotropisk kartlegging, utføres. Høye verdier i elektrisk anisotropi sammen med høy vertikal resistivitet av en formasjon svarer til tilstedeværelse av tynne resistive lag. I tillegg vil tilstedeværelse av ledende lag slik som skifer redusere horisontal resistivitet og ytterligere øke verdien av anisotropi. I motsetning til dette vil tykke resistive steinlegemer slik som talkdiapir og vulkanske steiner ha høye verdier av både horisontal og vertikal resistivitet, men lave anisotropiverdier.
